clean sweep

Patrick Gleeson: Lead Vocals and Harmonica: Pat put together a group in 2013 called “62 Blues”. A wonderful dance/blues band with a large following. A restructure of the band in 2016, when 3 musicians decided to try a new avenue, resulted in adding 5 new musicians which brought an amazing new sound! Because of the new sound and new members a new name was decided on of “Clean Sweep”.
Pat began playing harmonica the at age of 12. He's played in several bands including his own successful "Baluga Whale" in the 70's in the Bay Area opening for Leon Russell. In addition, he's played with The Tom Finn Band, opening for Johnny Hiland, The John Chipolina Band with Nick Gravenitis, he's Jammed with John Lee Hooker, Stu Blank & His Nasty Habits, Mike Varney (Shrapnel Records) Ron Thompson & Steve Gomes, Sonny Rhoades, JJ.Malone, Troyce Keys, Ben "King" Perkoff, Mississippi Fred McDowell, and many, many others. He was also one of the founding members of the SCBS Allstars (Sonoma County Blues Society). Blues, especially old traditional blues, has been his love since he began his harmonica lessons from a street musician where he grew up in San Francisco. He has a great vocal with that bluezey growl and blows a mean harp with soulful feeling. He is excited about adding Funk, Jazz and R&B to the band. “Clean Sweep” is the band he's always envisioned and they deliver!

Michael Gymnaites: Who may be better known as "Mr. Mikey" grew up in Santa Barbara. His mom, an avid "Kitchen singer" his Dad a trombone player were his introduction to music. His formal training began with Accordion at the age of 8 which he abandoned 4 years later after finding it too embarrassing. However his passion for guitar was born in the early 60's leading him to his first guitar at age 14 continuing into present day. (Lucky for us!) During his high school years he sang in Choirs, performed in musicals and various folk groups which led him to pursue a degree in music at San Diego State, in the middle of which he quit to travel with a funk/R&B dance band which celebrated an 18 year career; first as a full time travel band and later settling in the LA area as a full time club circuit band. During this time the band played backup for artist including Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, the Coasters and the Drifters as well as opening for Sly and the Family Stone. The band played the Hollywood club scene performing originals and was produced by Greg Adams from Tower of Power fame. In the early 90's Mike went on to play and sing as worship leader in churches in the LA area. This led to him singing, playing and teaching at various places around the U.S. as well as Europe and the Cayman Islands. Mike, his wife and 2 kids moved from LA to Clearlake, Ca in 2005 where he enjoys the slower life with less traffic . Mr. Mikey not only brings his vocal and guitar talents to “Clean Sweep", pursuing his love for blues and funk, but also continues to play music in several churches in Lake County.

Keith Crossan: “I started playing saxophone at 11 years old. After high school I started playing in folk clubs (The Drinking Gourd, Cedar Alley Coffee House, The Motherlode, The Orion, The Blue Unicorn) and on strategic street corners in San Francisco. From 1966 to 1970 we somehow found our way to the original Fantasy Records on Treat Street in San Francisco. In the early ’70s, I joined a band named Shadowfax and moved north just across the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County. In 1977 Lenny Williams had landed his own recording contract with ABC Records and needed a touring band. I auditioned, got the gig, and hopped on a jet the next day. From 1977-1980 we toured constantly with acts like Natalie Cole, Pattie Labelle, and Teddy Pendergrass. Also during this period, we did one-nighters with Richard Pryor, Grover Washington, The Crusaders, and a lot of other great artists. I got to play in most of the big venues around the country and lived in hotels and tour buses. Over the years I've played with Tommy Johnston from the Doobie Brothers, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, and Austin deLone. I was invited to sit-in at John Lee Hooker’s birthday parties. I got the gig with the Marty Balin Band when Paul Kantner and Jack Cassidy showed up and asked Marty about putting the act back together. The band was called the KBC Band. We made a record with Clive Davis on Arista records. Some of the highlights of that experience were being in my first MTV video and singing harmony with Marty on the Airplane song. On the weekends I backed-up great blues and R&B touring acts: I played behind Albert Collins, James Cotton, Big Jay McNeeley, Bonnie Raitt, Huey Lewis, Joe Louis Walker, Elvin Bishop, and once again, John Lee Hooker. Others I've played with are Commander Cody, Mary Wells, Sam Moore, The Coasters, The Drifters, The Platters, Ben E. King, Percy Sledge, Leslie Gore, the Dixie Cups, Del Shannon, Frankie Valli, Steve Douglas, and more. In 1990 I moved to San Francisco and started working with blues bands in North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf. There I met Tommy Castro, Randy, Shad, and most importantly, my wife Marianne.” I joined the Tommy Castro band with whom I toured with for 14 years.

David Neft: Began piano lessons at the age of 7 and continued playing through college and is credentialed K-12 with a BA from Cal State Hayward. (East Bay Univ.) He was a member of "Syndicate of Sound" achieving recognition for their hit "Hey Little Girl". He toured the Western states 1972-1975, and is also a member of the great blues band "Bill Noteman and the Rockets" who have opened for for BB King, Steve Miller Band, Temptations, and Tower of Power.
He accompanies local musicals in Lake County where he lives i.e.: Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, & Wizard of Oz. And plays his solo act throughout Lake, Sonoma and Napa Counties at dinner clubs, weddings, winery openings and celebrations, and has worked numerous studio recordings. “Clean Sweep" is honored to have David join us sharing not only his superb talent but also his upbeat personality.

Joanie Lane: “Growing up in Sebastopol California one would think I was nothing but a farm girl - which I was (and still am). My father plays just about any instrument you hand him (he now sticks mainly with tub bass). My mom played the piano and taught me piano basics at around 7 years old. I began playing flute in the public school at 9 years of age. I was taught by one of the best music teachers in California Mrs. Eleanor Morgan. My serious vocal instruction came from Louie J. Lewis, a perfectionist working at our high school, and being such, I was taught some wonderful disciplines that I now appreciate. At 14 I auditioned with a friend for the Talent Show during the seasonal Apple Blossom Festival (I think we came in 3rd place) where I met Kate Wolf, local legendary folk singer, who encouraged me to continue singing and play guitar in the local coffee shops. I began playing flute and singing backup in local bands throughout Sonoma County. I worked as a studio player in local recording studios where I met several recording artist who invited me to play in their bands occasionally and record studio tracks on their albums playing flute &/or singing harmony/backup vocals. Some of those musicians are Taj Mahal, Merle Saunders, Jackson Browne, Juice Newton, and others…..I had my own successful band that played regularly in Sonoma and Marin Counties in the 80’s. In 1997 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. During the removal of my thyroid my vocal chords were nicked and I wasn’t able to speak without some serious pain for over 3 months. After several years of vocal exercises, though I lost a bit of range and power in my voice, I am grateful to be alive, play and sing music again, and enjoy the joys of life!
